Hello all!
I have just purchased one of the cars I've wanted since I can remember - a Mk 1 MR2.
It's a 1986 white / grey two-tone number. Although it needs some work (hole in bottom of wing, front of sills, bottom of pillar) it is certainly a presentable example and comes with tonnes of history including all Toyota service receipts. 1 owner from new until the guy I bought it off took it in P/X for a sound system for her new Lotus.
As it's my first time owning a car from the 80's I'll no doubt be asking many of you for help and advice in the coming months of what I hope to be a great journey.
If you were interested, my previous car history (pre-1990 models) includes a 1953 Austin A30, 1965 Morris 1100, 1972 Morris 1300 Traveller, and a 1977 MG Midget 1500.
Hopefully this will be a photo of my car:

As I said, I'm new to non-british classic cars so would be great to hear from you guys

I've got a thing about wanting to two-tone my older cars in black and orange. Don't tend to go in for much modification-wise in terms of body kits, exhausts, etc but do like to have something that stands out as being different in appearance. Don't know how long this one will remain this colour scheme - will see how the paint holds up to a good clean and seeing how deep the few age-related marks on the body are!

It looks in great condition and welcome to the forum and the world of MR2s!
Kate, your roof aerial must be an extra because they didn't make chargers with an aerial on the roof...

JDM spec cars both 1A & 1B NA & SC had a roof aerial rather than the rear mounted leccy one (before it starts a major debate i'm not sure if this applies to T bar cars, but deffinately tin top & moon roof)

Excellent.
Well today children we have learnt that the aerial is not a guaranteed method of establishing if it is a mk1a or a mk1b. I tend to use the nose shape or the air vents as a more reliable however we all know that there are cars that are a mixture anyway.

and not forgetting the when they manufactured the B spec prototype, they was going to mount a telescopic aerial ontop of the O/S front wing, when the B spec was being manufactured before the end of A spec life as the VIN on the car was quite confusing at first when i compared it agaisnt another A Spec of a later year, i will try get some pics up for you guys, the car is currently a restoration in progress at the moment, due to the car being used as a training vehicle so it as seen many layers of paint in the toyota bodyshop but could be worse lol.
