Hey guys,

I've decided to sell my "winter beater" before the winter even kicks in.. I only bought this car around 2 months ago and have put my heart and soul into getting it back to a nice clean standard looking MR2.

I already own a modified AW11 so I wanted this to be totally standard.

I'll try not making this a mega long advert, I'll state the main facts and if there is anything else you wish to know about the car then either pm me or reply to this thread.

MOT - Just over 11 months left.
Tax - 6 months left.
Mileage - 136740 (Will raise slightly.. Don't let it put you off, these engines are good for 250,000+ if well looked after)
Price - £1000 with P/X welcome. (HAS to be Japanese.. The older the better!)
V5 in my name Present including a good bit of history.
Remote central locking
Immobiliser

While I've owned the car I have spent some time making the engine bay look a lot cleaner. The first thing I done was installed the famous "Jimi Bracket". This takes the throttle cable mount off the engine block to show you the true beauty of the 4A-GE engine. I've also installed two refurbed cam covers with factory paint colours. Although I never wanted an aftermarket cone filter I couldn't seem to track down all the bits n bobs to get it all back to standard so I decided to put a replacement cone filter (the previous one was crusty and open to the elements) in with a "carbon fibre" look cover to save it from sooking in any water or other nasty things that find their way down the engine lid vents. Apart from that I've changed the spark plugs, ignition leads and whacked a nice spanking new £100 battery from Halfords with 3 years warranty. The oil was changed less than 100 miles ago but silly me forgot to install the new oil filter! DOH.. I will include it in the sale though.

The car also comes with some "desired" items such as the import back lights and plate holder. The fog light has been wired in correctly which is a bonus and means you don't need to hang one of those crappy Halfords fogs off the back bumper. The back indicator lights have been tinted which I thought was a bit chavy at first but I think i've grown to like it. It has a great little CD player with USB connection and an awesome iPod/iPhone adapter which is wired to come out of the glove box to keep it neat and tidy. Front speakers work fine and the back speakers are aftermarket and now sit snug behind the seats on the floor. I'm happy to say the ariel works perfect also! I love just pressing the power button and watching it automatically go up and down! I call it "Make it look like an R/C car" mode.. A great little feature is the Paul Woods manual choke. The factory automatic choke stays on for much longer than it actually needs to on the MR2 which means it uses unnecessary petrol. This little switch allows you to turn it on and off when you wish.. basically you would turn it on to start the car then when the car starts to get some heat you can flick it off again long before the factory one would turn itself off. Under the frunk hood there is also a little switch installed for the front lights. As standard, while the car is on the lights will pop up with the half lights on which in my opinion looks a bit gash.. This little switch will keep them down until you turn on your full lights but will have the side lights on so you can at least be seen from in coming traffic.. You can turn this all off with the switch though if you want it standard again. The front lights have also been upgraded to Raybrigs which give it a nice crisp LED like shine. Super bright!

The interior is very very clean and tidy. The only thing that lets it down is the gear stick gaiter has came loose.. All you would need to do is remove the centre console (about a 3 minute job) and clip or glue it into place. I'd probably suggest buying a new gaiter though as they are pretty cheap and this one is a bit saggy. There is also a small nick out of the leather on one of the doors. All electrics work as they should like the electric mirrors and electric windows.

The exterior.. Right, the car does have the usual rusty arches but they are in no way beyond repair (see pictures). You could easily spend an afternoon sanding them and filling them to new again, I personally don't think new metal is needed. The biggest thing to let this car down is the paint work.. Some parts of the car look new like the bonnet and back bumper but the rest is either faded to a pinkish tint or has some major laquer peel. I've been told it probably could be saved to a certain degree but I guess it just comes down to how anal you are. I gave it a quick polish with some ICE and it actually came up amazingly well.. I think if you know how to machine polish and use the proper stuff you could probably get it beyond acceptable.

The wheels were rattle canned by myself.. They are in no way a professional finish but look decent enough. I've got some 5mm spacers on there too but to be honest I doubt they make any difference to the "stance".

I put the standard exhaust system back on (It is in MINT condition) BUT, I was sent the wrong gaskets so me being the impatient child born out of wedlock that I am I just whacked a crap load of exhaust paste on.. At first it was fine but it's starting to blow through now and it doesn't sound too great. All it needs is someone with a bit more time and patience and £10 for some new gaskets and it would be as good as new.

The car is running on some brand new APEX 30mm lowering springs.. They are hell of a soft but it is a nice comfy ride and although it looks high in some pictures (It's not as high as it looks) they have genuinely brought it down to a perfect ride height.

Car runs perfectly. It sometimes struggles for about 3 seconds to start in the morning but I believe this is down to the manual choke conversion.. Sometimes it kicks in straight away and sometimes it takes about 3 seconds to kick in. When it's hot though it starts like a brand new car!

I think there is a small leak from the radiator but the car never overheats. I top up the coolant once a week but it's a very very little amount. I'm sure some radweld would do the trick.

I've also had to replace the engine lid catch with a single bonnet pin. This works a treat but obviously it does mean anyone can open your engine lid from outside the car.

The car looks very solid underneath from the times I've been under it. I've never had the side skirts off though so I don't know if anything is lurking under there.

The trim is also missing from the drivers door, I'm unsure if the hole door was replaced for some reason or the trim had just fell off. You can buy the trim on eBay.

I am going to miss this car when it goes BUT I'm in no rush to sell it.. It's an amazing little car and if I didn't already own another two cars (one being a white AW11) then I would keep this. It turns heads everywhere it goes and it's AMAZING on petrol. I put £15 in it which got me 100 miles and that was before the petrol light had the chance to come on! I reckon I could have got about 120 miles out of £15 of petrol.

People are breaking these cars like there is no tomorrow so parts are readily available and usually mega cheap.

I apologise about the description being a bit all over the place, I'm never very good at this kind of thing as I rarely sell cars. If you read through it all then you should see all the info you need.

SUNROOF COVER IS NOT INCLUDED!!!

The car is located in Uddingston (Glasgow area).

It was £400 to which I've now spent another £1000 sorting out.

All the info is in the description.
