As per PH advert (http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/3387656.htm), I'm looking to sell my MR2 as I've just bought another car. The car is a simple project for someone willing to give the car a little TLC, and although the price is for the car with the biggest issues fixed, I would take less for the car as it stands for a quick sale, as I need to buy something cheap to run through the winter.
Good points:
-Tax until 31/03/12
-MOT until 30/09/2012
-Relatively low mileage
-New cambelt and clutch within last 18 months
-Recent new brake pads
-Replaced both rear brake calipers
-Relaced drive-shafts (a bearing collapsed in the CV joint)
-Replaced gearbox oil while driveshaft was out
-Replaced master cylinder and brake bias valve
Bad Points:
-Speedo not working. Not had time to check why due to work commitments, but could even be as something as simple as the sender becoming unplugged.
-Exhaust needs some TLC; one of the studs has stripped where the manifold meets the exhaust causing it to blow. I was quoted £10 to drill this out and replace it with a nut and bolt. I have a new aftermarket backbox with the car to replace the aged-looking OEM item.
-Two of the tyres are on their way to needing replacing. Currently legal.
-As in the pics, surface rust starting to show on rear arches.
-Handbrake needs readjusting
Aside from the surface rust, I'll be working through these problems until the car sells. As it is though, I have a heavy workload and I'm struggling to make much progress with it, hence I'd take less cash for the car if someone were to take the project on.
Overall though, a very solid and honest MK1. Certainly the one I've enjoyed the most out of the three I've owned.
