Does anyone on here own or know anything about this car: www.pistonheads.com/sales/3745625.htm ? Looks pretty good and decent price too.

It says 25,000 miles, but i'm sure i saw it somewhere else with 95,000 miles!
Sensible price for a SC though. Satin black paint is not for me!!! But if it's a solid one, then worth having.
On closer inspection, it is all a bit wrong. Did they make a SC in 1986? Mk1a side air intake, Mk1b leather door cards with Mk1b cloth seats. Dials stuck on the dash................. the intercooler is in the wrong place, wrong engine cover etc etc.

I think that one was for sale by some trader/tuner in Milton Keynes a couple of weeks ago. At least it looks very much like that one (satin black and that steering wheel). I think it was fairly low mileage - but not quite as low as 25k, Neil is probably right with remembering 95k. Someone reselling after just 1 month seems suspicious.

yeah i thought that mileage was unrealistic. maybe he means 125k miles. i quite like the satin black but would much prefer an original gloss black one. if the bodywork is all good then this could be a good buy.

i would say thta car was definatly not born with that supercharger! so god knows what miles the engine has done etc

i did send the owner a message asking about the mileage and if it was a genuine, original, factory fitted supercharger engine. No answer yet.

That's been on there before about a 2-3 months ago. Was up for £2500 I think.
Unfortunately it looks like the advert has been copied and copied badly -
The intercooler should be over the top of the battery if it was a true AW11 4AGZE, which it is not! It looks like a AE92 or AE101
Its a cross over by all the different bodywork bits and bobs and the one thing that says its not a charger is the fact its got the n/a rear lights.
Some chargers were produced in late 1986 but this was not one of them.
Spray it dark mica red or blue, change it to s/c rear lights, take out the minging blue interior and it'd be superb!

I think i might go for this one. Ive been in contact with the owner and he seems open and honest about the car. Obviously it is a conversion as many have already stated. The reconditioned engine has 25k miles on it since being fitted by a company called TRD apparently. I am tempted and will go and see it but im a bit apprehensive as ive owned a couple of genuine mk1 superchargers and have never ventured into the realms of conversions. Is it a dodgy area or something to avoid? Advice welcomed. Cheers. Rob

If you have paperwork to back up the claims that the conversion was carried out by professionals as he says then I would have no problem with owning a conversion.
Have you looked up this TRD company?

I googled them but couldn't find them, the owner said they were based in High Wycombe. I'm either going to buy this or go for an excellent condition N/A.

I'm assuming you both know that TRD stands for Toyota Racing Development...

Last time I did see that car on ebay it was sold by those guys: http://www.jpsmotorsport.com/ or on ebay: http://myworld.ebay.co.uk/jps-commerce/?_trksid=p4340.l2559
Don't know if the conversion was done by them - but they might know more about it...

Ok cheers for the links, I will contact them, that's a great help. Yes I know of TRD with regards to parts etc but some garages use company names like this such as JDM, a good Japanese sports car repair garage near me.

Just checked insurance for this. After declaring the respray, aftermarket wheels and supercharger conversion I was quoted just under 4k pounds! I only paid £160 for my last SC!

You have tried the wrong insurers then.
