Good afternoon,

I have for sale an almost complete 4AGE engine rebuilt by Rogue Motorsport for the MR2 Championship Series in 2009

I bought then engine in May 2010 as it was surplus to requirements as Rogue was not sponsoring anyone is the Series that year. For engine details please view attached thread from IMOC for an insight to the engine.

I had the car dynoed at 130.6 estimated at the flywheel but a real 107.6 at the wheels

Unfortunately the head gasket blew up two weeks before Xmas, which was due to a disintegrating radiator.

I had the engine apart the following day and took the head to an engine specialist in Colchester, Essex who advised me that the head was warped between cylinders 2 and 3. They also came down to view the engine block as I was concerned there was block damage on cylinder no.4 – this was verified by the engineer. The head was skimmed and degreased.

I sourced a compound called “Devcon 5 SF” which is a titanium putty, like JB weld but a lot stronger and more resilient. We applied this to the damage around the barrel of cylinder no.4 and put a new head gasket on, complete with brand new head bolts and torqued it up. All oil and coolant was changed, but I retained the cambelt.

I have since covered 4200 miles on this engine, but purchased a replacement reconditioned engine from Paul Woods in January to install and replace at the end of March. I would keep the engine that is currently in the car, but due to covering 400 miles a week, the inconvenience of it possibly overheating and breaking down is not worth my time.

There is a chap on IMOC who has used JB weld on his block face and it’s so far covered 31000 miles without fault. But due to my paranoia and anxiety when driving the car to work, I am replacing it.

The engine will be complete, less the fuel rail, injectors, distributor and wiring loom – these are required on my replacement engine. The cambelt has almost covered 60k miles and the engine itself since the rebuild performed by Rogue Motorsport 41k (yes I re-used an old cambelt when we put this engine in – naughty I know).

The gearbox is also included in the sale as this has been supplied with my replacement engine. The flywheel will probably need replacing but that’s up to you. A clutch is at your discretion as that has covered about 30k. The gearbox has never suffered with any 5th gear issues and they all select freely as they should. The gearbox has covered 179k.

This is an ideal opportunity for someone to take the engine apart, get the block skimmed and then put back together. I would do this, but I just haven’t got the time and my parents will not allow me to strip it on their driveway!

I am not asking the world for this so I believe £200 plus delivery is a fair price for an engine and box. Collection would be preferable but if it’s not possible I can get a price of delivery for you.

The package will be available for collection on and after the Easter Weekend.

If you are interested please let me know.

The engine is now out but will unfortunately be without the exhaust and inlet manifold so its basically just a block and head.

Looking for £100 for engine
