Hi,
I've just signed up on here as I'm selling my MK1 MR2 and this seemed like an ideal place to advertise it.
If anyone is put off by my "newbie" status I'm more than happy to point them towards a number of other forums where I've been a long-standing member or my eBay account as a "reference" as it were.
Anyway, about the car...
It's a 1989 G-Reg MK1 MR2 in white
Covered 105,000 Miles
MOT'd until July 2013
Taxed Until the end of November 2012
The car is absolutely lovely, it drives absolutely perfectly and feels tight as a drum, without so much as a squeak, knock or rattle from anywhere on the car.
Also, I will add that the MOT came with no advisory items at all. The steering is tight and precise, the suspension is tight as a drum, the brakes are excellent and the gearbox is delightful, really "snicks" into gear perfectly. As it should do really as the brakes and suspension have been fully rebuilt throughout.
Mechanically I think it's absolutely perfect apart from just the one thing that seems to affect all the MR2's I've known personally and that's the Waxstat valve. The automatic choke does stay on far longer than it needs to when it's cold. I know there are kits and things to switch this off manually for not a lot of money, but it's just something I've not got round to as yet.
The bodywork is also excellent. It's had two new front wings fitted in recent times and has just had brand new rear arches professionally fitted using quality hand-made steel panels, and also the rear corner section which is prone to rust has been changed on the drivers side. No nasty filler repairs on the car at all. No rust to speak of. The only hint of any corrosion I can find anywhere is on the very bottom corner of the door it looks as though there was a stone chip which has been touched in, but very, very minor. Apart from the odd chip on the front bumper and a few tiny chips along the very front edge of the bonnet (all touched in and only noticeable when looking up close), the bodywork is virtually unmarked. Put it this way, for a car now over 23 years old it's very, very good, but I like to point out all the little things.
The wheels are pretty good too, not kerbed and bashed, although the two front could ideally do with being rubbed down and re-painted as they show their age a little on the surface, but again that's just being picky. They're ok as they are, just could do with being made perfect.
The interior is virtually like new, and virtually without blemish. Even the steering wheel rim shows no sign of wear. The seats look like they've never been sat on, the carpets are perfect, none of the plastics have a mark on them, the headlining is perfect. Perhaps the only item in the interior showing any signs of wear is the gear gaiter. It still has original Toyota rubber mats, which bear the brunt of most of what the soles of everyones shoes have to throw at the car, but even they are completely undamaged and just need a wipe down from time to time.
The tyres are also excellent.
The car is 100% standard specification apart from a face-off CD player with AUX port for iPod etc.
As for the history of the car, it doesn't come with a stack of paperwork, but what I can tell you is that I'm the fifth owner. Prior to me, owners number 3 and 4 were both from the same family who lived on a large farm just outside Carmarthen. Before I owned the car it had never left the Carmarthen area. The first owner purchased the car new from Denzil Evans, the main Toyota Dealer in Carmarthen and it still has the original Denzil Evans Tax Disc Holder and rear window dealer sticker. They owned the car for many years and for the last six years of their ownership it sat in the garage not being used. It was then bought by a local mechanic who knew of the car. He then did a lot of work to it, including changing the alternator, all the belts, completely rebuilding the brakes and suspension and changing the front wings, plus a full service and other things ready for recommissioning.
Anyway, enough talking for now and a few photos...

As for price, I'm looking for £1400. I certainly wouldn't sell for any less than that as I don't have a dire need to sell, just too many ongoing projects including a hillclimb car which I need to get ready for next Spring and I'm WAY behind schedule, so just could do with slimming down my collection a tad.
I'm in Bridgnorth, Shropshire, but I do have a recovery truck, so could deliver the car for a reasonable cost.
