Hi there
I've just joined, having bought a red T-bar at the end of last year.
As far as I can see (and apologies if I have missed anything!), there aren't any Yorkshire runs planned. . . .
Without wishing to step on any toes, I'd be happy to organise one for later in the year, probably starting in Wetherby services, then heading up to Hawes in the Yorkshire Dales.
Anyone interested?

Yes! I think Bill was looking for someone to volunteer to run one in July...
EDIT - he is, but I think he is looking for a show as on his calendar it says he wants camping. Maybe theres an opportunity to do a 1 day show & a run on the same weekend over that way?

Tom Mundy is the Yorkshire organiser, webmaster, moderator and chairman of the MK1 club. Bill did ask Tom and myself to organise a Yorkshire meet and run for mid July to replace Oulton. We have not done it yet but if you have any ideas or know of a good run out I am sure Tom would be happy to have a chat about it.

Hi Howard,
I also have a red T-bar and I'm just down the road in Bradford, and I'd definitely be up for a trundle around the Dales.

Thanks for replies.
Sounds like it might be a goer for July, but see that Tom Mundy might already be on the case?!
Tom, could you let us know, as obviously I don't want to muscle in if something is alredy in the pipeline.

Hi Howard and everyone,
I'll have a think of a couple of routes. We've got the Dales and the North Yorkshire Moors to choose from, as well as some epic roads all around York and East Yorkshire also. I've had a quick scour around the Internet and come up with a rough plan as below:
Saturday 13th July 2013
Everyone makes their way to Levisham to join this car show - http://www.nymr.co.uk/special-events/vintage-vehicle-weekend/
It looks like there is a gathering of cars as well as some light entertainment and a chance to see some historic railway engines in action.
Find some camping or accommodation close by for the evening - whittle away the night with some beer, camp fire and friendly MR2 based chat.
Sunday 14th July 2013
Awaken and go on a drive, starting at about 10am after everyone has packed away their tents etc. If we have enough interest, I could look into getting a barn or something in the area. Obviously, if it wasn't too pricey.
Then we have the whole of North Yorkshire at our disposal. I can create a route anywhere from 100-300 miles taking in beautiful scenery and challenging roads to more fast sweeping roads navigating through little villages etc. ending up somewhere near the A1 to make people's journeys home easier.
Thoughts?
I'm not sure how big an event the railway thing will be; I'll contact the hosts to see if they could accommodate for a gaggle of Mk1's.
We can always skip the event if it doesn't seem worth it and just have a little run on the Saturday en route to overnight accommodation and then the bigger run on Sunday.
Cheers,
Tom

The camping/overnight spot can be a bit further west for people travelling over for this event. Around York or Ripon etc.

Sounds great Tom, there are some great roads around there, although camping in a barn sounds great fun :D

As bringing my rigid, motorised tent presents a logistical problem, a barn camp would suit me very well. Interested.

BigP and myself are putting our heads together on this. We're looking at a South Yorkshire meeting point on the Saturday morning. We will then go on a lovely route across and up through Lincolnshire, up into East Yorkshire and end up in North Yorkshire at a camp site or barn somewhere. We will set up base, have a cracking evening and then go on another drive around more of North and East Yorkshire on the Sunday. I've got a few treats lined up that I will try and wangle including a small tour of a specialist car showroom and some rather good fish and chips! :D
Keep checking back for updates.
Cheers,
Tom
