Hi I'm Stefan
I have a 1989 in Helios blue or the light pearlescent blue. 88000 miles on 'er. It has been dry stored in a shipping container for 16-17 years. everything is original ZERO modifications. Zero body rot :)

wheels needed a bit of a polish. new radiator an a hunting idle problem i believe to be a wax stat issue currently under control with a dust valve cap blocking the choke(wax stat) opening in throttle body.

Hi Stefan welcome to the forum. The hunting idle might be because the system has air in it, did you bleed the system when you fitted the radiator. Those wheels look polished to me so that is a modification ;-)
I was born in Downpatrick and brought up in Ards, lovely place to live. I am afraid to ask but is that a blue interior in your car :o

Looking great, welcome along! What's the history of the long period in the container then?

I love the colour, think it is much more interesting than white (and I used to have a white one) or red.
Looks lovely and beautiful condition

Thanks for the welcome guys :)
It most certainly is blue is that a bad thing? I don't mind it really.
Regarding the wheels I believe that the Teardrop/Pepperpot/supercharger alloys originally had a polished face so I didn't intentionally modify just though I had restored or removed the oxidised coat they had developed.
The storage story...
My Father Bought it in 1994 and drove it very little over a 2 year period. He decided to lock it up as he had other cars to drive and wanted to keep this one 'fresh'? lol so he bought a container and locked it up went out and started it once or twice a year. Then I found myself as the owner on my 25th birthday so I've been slowly getting it road legal since.
refurbed seized rear calipers
sticky handbrake
cracked tyres
holey radiator
new alternator (old one worked but cracked casing)
oil service
timing belt might need looked at new one went on in 94 less than 1000 miles on it.
sparks still to do.
Thanks for the advice on bleeding the system. I've bled the system a couple of times no air after third go at it. I was advised by Steven a Club admin I think to check the coolant hoses that go into the throttle body for air as they are higher than the whole cooling system.

The blue interior certainly divides opinion. I am in the camp of not liking it but it is still better than the burgundy interior found on some mk1's .....

Or even the beige one (seen a photo but cannot find it now)
