Carbon fibre dipped Cam covers

Hi
would there be much interest for carbon fibre dipped cam covers or other parts ie c pillar trim,a pillar trim etc.
I have added a pic ,it doesn't just stop at carbon fibre look there are numerous different styles,ccolours available .

I saw a bit of this on Wheeler Dealers and it does offer a good finish. I wondered how it would wear on engine parts.

My MK1 won't be seeing anything so garish, but my other cars...

do you mean carbon look vinyl wrap ?????

if so you can buy this in sheets and do a diy job (it's a bit like hanging wallpaper) on any part so long as your paintwork is in decent condition. it's used by the scooby boys and girls as a protective cover against stone chipping on the front spoiler and bonnet.

i believe this is a film dip process......same as that used for wooden dashboards etc on modern cars. Very durable.

The guy whos doing them gas just investef 40k on the machines etc. Its the same process as large car manufacturers like merc and jag use for the wood and carbon effect dashboards and is as durable ss the lacquer thsts put over the top.

It does look kind of blingy but there are 100's if not 1000's of different sheets available ,Its not a cheap process,has cost 1000's to set up ,as you need a large tank,activator etc . Would like to see a diy job done using it . Any part can be done, bonnets etc however the film is only 1m wide so if something as large as that is to be done a stripe would have to be put down the middle so as not to show the join, should have plenty of parts done for Tatton,if there is any interest let me know what parts you are interested in and I will speak to him and get prices etc,

I have a tank and film to do this the things you can do with it is unreal !

You can get longer then one meter film .. Some films are 1 meter x 1/2 meter and some are 1meter x 1 meter ... There are 100s of films like cammo, animal print, wood grains and many more the tank I've got is 1200 long x 600 wide an 600 deep.. It's not an easy process tho but the results are awesome !

Yes Luke 1 metre is the widest you can get I think ,how come you haevent played around with it,like you say the finished article is pretty dam good

Yep ... I'm working on marble wheels ATM .. I've had a play with a few bits I just haven't had time really but I'm waiting for a course up in Yorkshire to help he abit .. I agree Paul there is a lot of time to get the finished product good even more so with carbon that's one of the hardest I think ... When I start doing properly ( as I'm still setting my room up to do it in) I was going to off it to the club

I'm doing some testing next week as my room will be finished so ill dip the set of cam cover and head light covers I got and post the pics up
