And while he left the tax n mot expired but he forgot to SORN it so it currently have a debt of £80 penalty on it to DVLA
The penalty will be paid as soon as there is a buyer for it
Here are some picture of what it looks like before and it was a runner all electric works but now just cover by dust and the tyres and battery have flatten out
Currently about 83000 miles on it
Still have the service history here

Engine and gearbox are fine
I driven it once before he leaves UK
Just the front wind screen near the T bar now starting to have some bubbles coming up but I already painted some rust remover on top to stop it get worst hopefully
I think thats all I know
If you have a jumper you can bring it along to try jump start it see how it goes cause it still park inside the car park

If it helps (Cchrysos or the vendor ) I'm currently having a screen-out, windscreen-surround rust fix done at a bodyshop in Oxfordshire. Cost is about £230 - I'll post full details and pics when its done. GLWTS, by the way - I'm sure I recognise the car from somewhere. At £1380 it's definitely worth a punt, the engine and gearbox alone are worth that much!

Is the V5 registered in your friends name, if so who is going to sign the change of owner section as he is out of the country? Certainly looks cheap enough if the ownership can be sorted properly.

Isn't that Barney from Basingstoke's old car that he sold a few years ago?

Thanks Donna. Seem to remember I was going to try and look at for you in 2011!
Hope full history helps people. My view is for £1380 or near offer it's worth it. There's a few small issues but has had money spent and pretty clean underneath.

Its now on Autotrader with a rather suspicious mileage. From picking up on previous threads, Barney sold it has having between 82-90k miles on it, but its mileage is given as 55k in the latest ad which is roughly what you get from converting 80k ish miles to kilometers. Are these cars all imported and if so is the Odometer calibrated in Miles or Kilometers? http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201403032216420/sort/default/usedcars/postcode/s119jh/onesearchad/used%2Cnearlynew%2Cnew/model/mr2/radius/1500/page/1/make/toyota/engine-size-cars/1-4l_to_1-6l?logcode=p

All the MK2's are KM odometers, not sure about MK1's.

Yep, all original SCs are imports and so will be in KMs. It could have been converted, though.

Hmmm Seems strange that the speedo is primarily mph but the odometer is km? We have a Cappo and the Imports had both speedo & odo in kms, and UK cars had both in miles.

Only imported MK2's, UK cars are miles, I'm pretty sure it's the same for MK1's

This is the MR2 MK1 club not the probe club, if you want to talk about those there are specialist sites for it :-)

This supercharger has just turned up for sale on the crx-uk forum for £3K, I questioned the mark up on the car and the chap said he had to pay off a hefty parking fine that the car had, seems like quite a interesting/dodgy story behind the sale of this one......

The fine was £80 as listed on the gumtree advert which is still live if you type in mr2 supercharger, I wouldn't mind giving him a drink on what he paid, I reckon it cost him no more than £1500 on road £3000 is extortion

This looks like a good car. Worth 2.5k all day long. Regardless of what the owner paid for the car. Windscreen rust will be my main concern.

8th March 2014, 09:47 PM
apparently the fine was £2500 which was negotiated down to 4 figures, so I guess a grand minimum, well that's what he said anyway, but it looks very nice and certainly worth £2.5k+ if its as good as it looks, price just seems a bit mercenary that's all
Yspeed

Your right 2.5k is reasonable, but I've looking around the forums and a mk1.5 is quite appealing and for around the same money double the power

What has a fine got to do with the price of the car? It would have been the owners issue not the purchasers

its to justify the price tag I suppose, its clearly on for a quick tidy profit, just a shame it wasn't an enthusiast getting a bargain and cherishing a nice rare car

The guy took the chance/risk, he can ask what he wants, it's down to a buyer to decide if it's worth it

the seller told me that the guy was paying £1500 for it..... doesn't seem much of a risk to me.... it was worth that in parts.

A 1.5 mk1 will be amazing and quick. Here is my old car, which I sold a few years back for 3750. Looking back I think I under sold it. Hope it gives you a idea of what to pay for a sc. http://www.mr2mk1club.com/showthread.php?8297-Late-model-Supercharged-Mark-1-MR2-SOLD&

Yeah mate compared to what people are asking for theirs yours is cheap, but values seem to fluctuate as I look into archive sc's for sale best I've seen so far but i suppose most cars on this forum will be some of the best examples in the country

Hi guys,
This is back on eBay and i'm looking at it for my first MR2!
I've wanted one for ages and need a slightly more reliable car to use instead of my VW camper that has been my daily drive for a few years. I've always had classic cars so I'm not completely useless as a potential buyer (i know filler when i see it!) but wondered on peoples opinions on the price of this considering in has some history on here.
Seems like whoever bought it in March replaced the battery and had some engine work done (injector seal). The seller is advertising it with millage of 84000km and barney had it down as 82000 when he was selling it so makes me wonder if the speedo has been fixed....
Would be interested in what you guys think. May view this weekend and offer £2k if all's well.
Cheers,
Tysoe

Does anyone have clarification on the fines issue? could a fine be passed on with the car to the new owner?
