Greetings all,
I've just noticed that tickets have now gone on sale for the 25th Silverstone Classic. I actually noticed this on Facebook and panicked as work's leave was already double booked. Anyway, some grovelling and sweet talking later, I've managed to swap and got the whole weekend and surrounding days off! Waahoo!
I shall be taking my motorhome, and will be getting the MR2 roadworthy for the first time in 3 years specially for this event.
I don't know if anything's already been arranged as it's still early, but I'm massively looking forward to doing the MR2 30th Anniversary parade lap.
So, who's in? I take it the club will be getting discounted tickets and such?

Hi Dylbie,
Yes, this is going to be our big event of 2015! :D
30 years of the Mk1 and 20 years of this club!
I'm hoping to get at least 30 Mk1's on the parade lap, which will be a great sight to see. It would also be cool if we could get an MR2 area on the campsite.
The club gets a 2 for 1 promotion on tickets, which makes it great value! I recommend arriving on the Thursday evening and enjoying the full line-up on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Words can't describe how big and exciting this event is! It's going to be a cracker!
Status Quo are confirmed as the headline music act too, for those that are interested.
As the event and dates have now officially been announced, you should see some information crop up on here soon.
Cheers,
Tom

Thanks Tom. I was blown away by it all last year! Do you know if the other MR2 clubs are getting involved too? And also if the Mk2s and Mk3s are invited too?

I'm going to get in touch with the other clubs to see if their Mk1 owners wanted to join us. No plans for the later marks as of yet. Lots of options though! :)

Hi mate , yes we do this way we get the buy 1 get 1 free offer for the show but camping at woodlands will have to be done through the silver stone site . The club will send your show tickets and the camping tickets will come direct from silver stone .

Gary, would you be able to take two cars infield with the Club's BOGOF offer?

yes you could but both cars would have to be registered via number plates and the driver of the car a mk1 club registered paid member for insurance cover going around the track

I'd be interested in this. Gives me a target to get mine on the road. Will there be an official club announcement here about what's involved, prices etc?
A friend of mine is a Silverstone Marshall and he rates the Classic as one of the best meetings of the year there.

Yes, I'll be putting together a post full of information once we've received the relevant supporting information and material from Silverstone.

Are there any alternatives to the Woodlands campsite? Don't get me wrong it is a great place, but as we were only able to stay for the Saturday, £100 seemed a bit steep for a single night for staying in my own van? I know there are other campsites, but does anyone know how they compare, how close they are, and how good access is etc?

If you search for camp sites near Silverstone circuit, a few places come up.
Dadford Road Campsite is very close:
£15 for a pitch for a Saturday night.
£45 from Thursday to Sunday/Monday
£30 from Friday to Sunday/Monday
This is for 2adults, 2 children, 1 tent and 1 car, which seems reasonable.

Whittlebury Park Campsite is OK. I think they will have another kind of car show on site, too

I've just received our special club ticket rates and all other supporting information, so will put together an official post in the next few days. I've got a busy work and personal schedule at the moment, but hope to have this done by early next week. :)
