When this goes down, and my car is there. Can someone be a kind soul and help me fit my jimi bracket? I really don't wanna go at it outside my house and balls up my main car. There will be a drink, or shots in it (if you're feeling lairy) for whoever. Thanks

Hi all,
Right, some good news! The tickets will remain the same price as last year, which is good as they have risen steadily over the past couple of years. The show presents fantastic value, particularly if you purchase them before the end of March. Some further info below:
Tickets
As usual, the Mk1 club has secured a great deal on tickets, which means that you get 2 tickets for the price of 1! Why not make a weekend of it and get the best value by buying a 3 day ticket? :) Many people arrive on Thursday evening and enjoy 3 full days and nights of racing, rocking and laughs!
The table of prices can be seen below:
http://www.mr2mk1club.com/uploads/2016/silverstone/ss16prices.JPG
There is also a small admin fee charged by Silverstone to cover postage, which is £1.95 per booking.
For example, if you buy a 3 day package, which includes tickets for 2 people along with 1 in-field car pass, it'll cost you £100.95. This is the cost if you do a bank transfer. Alternatively, if you'd like to pay by PayPal, the price would be £104.60 due to PayPal's fees. We can also accept cheques, but your tickets won't be booked until the cheque has cleared; cheque payments will be the same amount as a bank transfer.
Another example would be to buy the Saturday only package, which includes tickets for 2 people along with 1 in-field car pass. This would be £66.95 by bank transfer or cheque and £69.45 by PayPal.
The above prices are based on booking before 31st March, which guarantees you the best prices for the event. After that date and until 31st May, the prices jump up as in the grid above. After that date, ticket purchases are no longer available!
These prices are only available to club members, so if you're not already a member and are wanting to come, it's well worth the £10 joining fee as you'll save way more than this by taking up our ticket price off. You can join or renew from the following link: http://www.mr2mk1club.com/payments.php
This show was absolutely amazing last year, with 33 Mk1's in attendance on the Saturday for our anniversary parade lap, which was a superb experience - roll on the 40th anniversary! :D
I'm currently busy at work and organising my wedding, so will be starting ticket orders when I return from my honeymoon after 15th February.
Until then, pop your name down on the list or reply to this thread to show your interest. When I return from honeymoon, there will be six weeks to purchase the tickets at the cheapest price, so plenty of time. To purchase a full weekend package for two people would only mean saving just over £30 in January, February and March; go for it! :D
Any questions in the meantime, just ask.
Cheers,
Tom

Hi. Just sorting the 2016 calendar with the wife. I'm trying to work out how much it'd cost for us, but the camping prices are confusing my hungover brain! Can someone tell me how much it'd cost for me, my wife, and our 12 year old daughter to camp for the weekend in our caravan with electric hook-up? Thanks. :)

Brilliant! Thanks Kris. I'll talk to Sonia later.
If you've got a solar panel on your van it's not worth paying for the hookup. If you haven't, it might be better to spend the hookup money on fitting one. That's what I did last summer as the hookup prices were becoming extortionate...they wanted £100 for F1 hookup last year, so I fitted a 100w solar kit instead :D

We'll be doing this. The Classic will be in the middle of our 2 week caravan tour of the UK, so we will be going for the 'proper' electric hookup. There will be me, Sonia, and our daughter Emily. We'll have the caravan and an Audi, but no mr2.

Will be great to camp with you again! OT, but just trying to decide where to sit for F1. Club is extortionate, so Abbey or Vale seem likely candidates. Can't be bothered walking round to Becketts, even though it's probably the best place to view, by far. Hmmm.

Vale would be my choice. I was there with General Admin tickets and saw loads of action. If you're in a grandstand you should be able to see a bit of Hanger Straight, and then you'll see passing attempts at Stowe then Club. You can also see the cars entering the pits and you're close to the podium.

Yeah, we were on the back row of Vale last year, right on top of the braking zone. Some good racing and overtaking to be seen and the added benefit of being a very short stroll from woodlands. BUT...when it rains...

The Silverstone Classic is the middle weekend of 2 week touring holiday we're planning. We'll be arriving there on the Thursday, but are completely flexible on time, so if you're arriving Thursday just let me know a time and we can arrange a rendezvous somewhere outside Silverstone and go in a convoy. ;)

Hi Alex,
Are you asking if the £91 for a Saturday/Sunday ticket includes camping? If so, no, it doesn't. I must admit that the pricing of the 2 day tickets are strange this year. Certainly promotes people doing a full weekend of it!
Yes, still buy one get one free until the end of May, but best prices run out next week. If you're planning on joining us, let me know for sure sooner rather than later. :D

Woodlands campsite is fixed price £49 for the weekend Thurs-Monday .
If you feel that's a bit steep for camping one night I recommend you stay at Dadford road campsite instead. Its directly over the road from woodlands and is £15.

Thinking about the full 3day weekend, but need to check ferry times and costs etc.
Also my car is going for its NCT (Irish MOT), next week so need to make sure it passes that!
Will make decision by next weekend, but if I go I will definitely be looking to split my ticket if this is possible.

That's cos they closed the M40 at J12 last year... It was total gridlock!
Its as short as it is long for us to go m1 or m40, I tend to take the m40 simply because that's the route I use when I need to go to work near Heathrow.
Anyway, due to the unique way the Talbot is powered AND the sadly uniform way the motorway network is covered in roadworks, I would imagine we are looking at a 4-5 hour trip including comfort breaks.
So roughly, our ETA at woodlands would be 3-5pm depending on what time we get up.

I have been in touch with Kris since we are both taking motorhomes but they are not on electric hook up like Tommy and Anthony's vans. It would make sensetherefore for Kris and I to arrive together to ensure we can pitch up together. Since Kris's van has, purely for fuel economy, limitations to its top speed I can have an extra hour in bed and still arrive at the same time as Kris and Alison despite having further to travel. Kris' preferred meeting point is Cherwell Valley Services J10 M40 so I am going to meet them there at 2.30pm Thursday - that should mean we are at the campsite soon after 3pm. We can then meet with others on the campsite. I assume those arriving first will choose a similar location on the campsite to last year.

Save a spot for us and our big tent please [emoji4] Tom has to work 'til 3:30pm, so we'll be there between 5:30 and 7pm (depending on traffic and food shopping). I'm really looking forward to catching up with everyone and, of course, the epic, fun-filled weekend that Silverstone Classic always is!

I should be able to make my first mk1 club meet. I only have to travel 10 mins up the road to get there too! I am however a tight git and was not prepared to pay ticket prices. I've got a number of mates work at Silverstone and they are going to bung me their passes for the weekend. I am not too sure if they will get me to the infield though. Does anyone know what the infield past is? If its just a ticket you out in your windscreen maybe I could walk in, nab someone else's pass, walk out and then bring mine in on someone else's pass?
Hi there, did you get sorted?
Cheers,
Tom

Sorry I wrote a huge rant earlier and its disappeared. I'm absolutely gutted but I won't be taking part now. I will be there as a spectator with my lovely MR2 as a complete waste sat out in the public car park.
It's my own fault, I was prioritising finances and I pushed the Silverstone tickets down the list in favour of a wheel referb and so then I couldn't afford tickets. I live a few miles up the road and have a few contacts at Silverstone. They wangled me a pass for the weekend but couldn't get me a car pass as the event is not run by Silverstone but an independent events team. I called the events team, said I had won some tickets to the event for the weekend but wanted to get my car in so that it could go on the MK1 display. They were completely unhelpful and uninterested. Said even if I paid for a pass their are no more passes being issued. I pointed out there is space for my car within the owners club and she just riled me even further by saying your welcome to park your car for free in the public parking and can 'walk in and see your friends'.
As I say can only blame myself really, don't pay the money and expect the world I guess so have to look to next year. Shame as its the only MK1 meet of the year that's within sesnsible reach for me and its wasted now. Hacked off is a mild way of putting it!

There were lots of great track racing and then the hot air balloons set off in the late afternoon sun.
On the evenings' entertainment, Reef was very impressive

and the AC DC tribute act was, well a tribute act, but after two numbers from The Stranglers, we departed. I think they're only for the die hard fan unless you'd had a skinful by then.

I had a look round the stand on Saturday. No one was on it at the time so didnt get to say hello to anyone. Great stand, and great to see A MK1 representation in among all the exotic cars there. There was one Red example on display which is the most mint example of a MK1 I have ever seen- beautiful car who ever that one belongs to.
I did also see a very young looking guy walking round in a Black T-Shirt with a White MK1 design printed on the front. Not sure if that was someone from the club or just a coincidence

The young lad with the black t-shirt was at the stand early Saturday - lives in Belgium and has a MK1 and is looking for a sump - Gary suggested he posts on here.

What a fantastic weekend!
Thank you to all those that attended and those that popped by the stand to say hello (sorry we missed you Crossle).
The weather was on our side this time, which was a great help and made for wall to wall smiles from everyone all weekend. This event just keeps getting bigger and better. So many memories from this one; great music from Boomtown Rats, Reef and The Stranglers, big wheel ride, smokey passenger ride in a Jag, cars, cars, cars, so much racing, meeting Freddie Hunt, hot air balloons, aerial displays, drag racing and top company. :D :) :D
Roll on next year!!!! :D

It was a good weekend, and good to catch up with the friendly members as always. Saturday was a very good day with plenty to see, the International pits is always good for a wander around and see the expensive stuff up close and unhindered - not like the ever so precious F1 stuff! - Highlights for me were the Can-Am series, nice to hear those 7 litre McLaren Chevrolets being brayed, the twilight Group C race is always good with flaming exhausts, although a noticeable diminished number of cars on the grid this year. Musically, well, Live/Wire we saw 2 minutes as for Reef, erm, no.. we gave The Stranglers the benefit of the doubt but 10 minutes was enough and we left, Sunday was quiet at the International pits, with a lot of competitors packing up by midday. (Sunday could have been better on a personal level, one of the pleasures of being a diabetic!) My only real gripe from the weekend was the food vendors, I know they have to make a profit but they were taking the proverbial!

Its a credit to you Jonathan. I would class mine as show room condition but yours is forefront of the showroom condition! Really like what you've done with the wheels- youve bought a stock wheel to life.
Shame I couldnt make this one- have to be more organised next year and be good to see if we can drum up some sort of of interest for a local meet.
