Thatcham Cat 2 immobiliser
This above for sale supercharger was one of the last of the superchargers to come off the Toyota factory production line in 1989. This vehicle was personally imported by the MR2 MK1 Club President in December 2000 and has been in his possession until the present time. All import documents are available and UK specification variations updated on entry to the UK.
This supercharger version of the MR2 MK1 was never exported to the UK by Toyota. Initially, the supercharger was only available in Japan when released by Toyota in 1986. In 1988 the majority of the superchargers went to the USA and the remainder to the home Japanese market.
My car lived in my double garage for the first 11 years but since we moved house and downsized, it
has been on drive with a cover over it for the past twelve years. Recent mileage has been low and
and the car has been sorned for the COVID period.
When the car first arrived in the UK, I discovered in the following summer that the air conditioning didn’t work. It cost me £1,284 to get it fixed.
Some welding has been done after MOT inspections as required by Dickersons, as well as keeping the paintwork in good condition.
Other parts that have been fitted during my ownership, most of which have been carried out recently, include:
New rear wheel arches fitted (both sides)
New Toyota supercharger clutch fitted
Reconditioned alternator fitted
Reconditioned starter motor fitted
Cold starter, injector, and time switch fitted
Steering bushes renewed
I have got the Thatcham Cat 2 immobiliser fitting certificate.
A genuine Toyota workshop manual is included with the sale. There are only two copies known to exist in the UK. The manual is the USA version, which includes the information specific to the supercharged model, which the normal workshop manuals do not cover.
This very rare classic car in excellent condition offers the buyer a chance to own a truly great Toyota sports car.
