A few members of the S.E area attended a trial run to Rye harbour organised by Alan Cayzer on the 29th December 2008 as part of a larger run planed for around April time, ( keep an eye on the S.E events area forum ).
We met at the M20 services Jcn8 at around 11am, chatted to friends for a few minutes & had a bite to eat & a coffee before departure around 11.45. The route took us along the B2163 then onto the A274 through Headcorn & Biddenden, then onto the A28 through the lovely village of Tenterden with its historic old'e world'e buildings & market square, we then took the B2082 to just outside Rye then onto the A259 through Rye & onto the Harbour & made our way to a large car park. we then made our way to the harbour by foot, but it was so cold we found a pub with a lovely open fire & decided to have a pint whilst we were there :D seemed rude not to !. after a while some made their way back home & a few of us headed back to Rye for fish & chips at a nearby chippy restaurant, afterwards saying out goodbye's & making our own way home. A good day was had by all & it least it blew a few cobwebs off the cars & got us out of the house for a few hours, the trip planned for April time will hopefully take in Hastings as well, Alan / Pete/ Steve will confirm this nearer the time.
Just a few pics of the day :-
