Then one day on ebay this chap posts up for £300 Buy it Now a Black Mk1 with headgasket Failure. Now from the pics it looks good i spoke to him on the phone and without even seeing the car i buy it bank transfer style
didnt really look where it was but its in freakin Newcastle and im in Portsmouth so Quick scan round the internet and £140 Train +7 hours on train :( or £90 Flybe +1 hour arriving at 8am. :)
so £400 spent in less than 2 hours (the wife is not happy) and me flying that weekend.
So i get up there really early and its perfect some minor rust on the rear arches Underneath is Solid as a rock Its a Black Tbar 67k on the clocks It has the bags behind the seats with the blinds a full leather interior Koni adjustable shocks all round and the best looking Mk1A alloys i have ever seen! The frunk looks like it has just come out of the show room. Only things wrong is the minor rust a slight ding to the front bumper and the engine....Which is a freakin Death trap the bolt on the drivers side of the fuel rail has stripped its threads and the pressure of the fuel is forcing the rail off the injector and is peeing fuel everywhere i can see whats happened the bolts gone there is no/very little fuel getting to the injector so #4 has run very lean=hot=head gasket pop= :(
Either way im happy RAC are called and i now have 368miles at 56mph to look forward to.
Take a look
