Hi all,
I've just been looking around on the Internet and on Google maps to find a suitable location for a monthly meet. I came across The Crown Inn at Monk Fryston, near Selby. Postcode is LS25 5DU.
It appears to be a nice pub set in a good location with ample parking.
I am going to do a recee trip one day this week to check it out and have a word with the Landlord/Landlady and see if they'd welcome us. I'll check out a few other places too but this place is #1 at the moment.
I chose this as it seems to be fairly central for all the people that have posted so far, here are some rough distances for ease:
York = 20 miles
Beverley/Hull = 40 miiles
Leeds = 15-25 miles
Barnsley = 20-30 miles
Doncaster = 20 miles
Sheffield = 40 miles
I was thinking a weekend daytime meet to start off and then see if people would prefer that or a weeknight meeting? All thoughts and opinions are welcome! :D
I'll update once I've gone and visited the place. So until then reply to this thread if you're interested in attending.
Cheers
Tom
PS: I know of some awesome roads around this area too so it would also make a good location as a start/finish of a run out. :+:

Hi Tom,
Thats OK by me. Weekend afternoon sounds good. Saves the workers rushing to get there on an evening.

Hi again,
Well I went on the recee trip yesterday and what a glorious day it was too! My route there was just constant fast flowing well surfaced roads with good visibility for making progress. :)
I got to the pub and went inside to get a drink and test out the food, plus speak to the Landlord.

A few minutes later and the Landlord came up from the cellar and said that we'd be fine to use their pub as a meet location and that he actually used to have a Mk1! He also mentioned that there used to be a Porsche club that held a meeting there so it's a car friendly place. :+:
Off outside I went with my mate and then after a reasuring wait a simply delicous bacon and cheese burger and homemade chips n relish arrived:

Yum, will be having that again.
Nice little wall for some group shots me thinks:

I drove past a few other pubs on the way back and some of them did have bigger car parks but The Crown Inn will suit us unless the group gets bigger. :)
So, one weekend in May for the first meeting. I don't want to clash with the North West meeting so either Saturday 9th May or either day the following weekend sound okay to people?

Well the weather held out for us, just. 8-)
There were 5 attendees and a brace of MR2's.
The food was good again, and we all laughed when they brought out a full tray of chips to share between us. :lol:
Good meeting Gordon and Douglas, your MR2 is very tidy Gordon, you did well finding it! :)

Any news on the next meet?
Same place? similar time?
I'm currently going out cycling on a saturday, big miles in preperation for a charity ride but due to the addition of my new Saris Bones cycle rack, can start/finish anywhere so can start a round route from wherever the meet is and get back in time for the start. I'll prob be going down to doncaster and back with a 9am start, mainly flat and should be do-able in 4 hours inc. a break halfway for tea and bickies!
Anyones welcome to join me for a cycle first if they're feeling energetic! Can fit 2 additional bikes on mine if needed. Coming over from Hull/Beverley area.
Incidentally, is it anyone on here has an F reg red MR2 last seen parked on new village road(?) Cottingham last sunday? :wave:

Hi Bushy. :+:
As I don't think many of the Yorkshire lot are going to Le Mans then we can do it next weekend.
How would Sunday 14th sound to everyone? 1pm onwards again. If Saturday was better for people then you'd have to be 'on yer bike' :).
Let me know if you want to convoy over together Bushy. I might also have another new member along with me.
Cheers

Saturday would be better for me to be fair, I'd be going over to arrive around 9am then off cycling for 4 hours, then back to pub for much needed rest! will still be in MR2 though, can convoy over if you fancy going on a cycle ride before the meet, build up an appetite! :D i'm possibly out in Scarboro Sat night so might struggle to get up and back by 1pm Sunday but will know nearer the time depending on what plans are.

Hi mate,
I didn't see this before. Yeah, a meet at the Ship Inn should be fine.
Hope to see you there tomorrow still though, but have a good night out!

Hi Kev/Everyone,
Sorry for not organising a meet in July, new job, flat hunting, wheeling and dealing etc. :)
Short notice I know but how does Sunday 16th August suit everyone?

I'll start a new thread.
