Hello, I'll pay whatever it takes to get a mint low mileage one with FSH. I'm away for 3 weeks now but hopefully something will turn up when I get back.

Does it have to be red, theres a very good looking one advertised on ebay with a BIN of £2995, tbar, 61k miles, you could get that for £2500

Although it is resprayed it does seem like a lovely car. However I want somethink like the 27K mile one that was advertised here for 4.2K. I've been searching everywhere, even looking at Japanese ones to import.

At lease with white you wont get any of the red fading issues, white sports cars seem to be all the fashion at the moment.

This seller specialises in selling 80's classics and I've noticed he's sold quite a few Mk1's this year, based in Swansea.
This ticks all your boxes except the colour, nice low mileage 1990 tbar which looks in fantastic condition, got to be worth a look, for me I'd be offering £2295 at this time of year.

Mmmm good luck with that one, anything less than 45K rarely pop up for sale, however keep looking as you never know.
You missed out on a light blue with 35 miles on clock, thats actually 35 individual not 35000, it sold in the region of £10500
I'll keep a look out for you, keep trying Pistonheads and this website www.carandsclassic.co.uk (http://www.carandsclassic.co.uk)

Got to agree with you on the import idea, very easy to do however import tax and transportation will add another £1500 to the price.
Looking through the Japanese auctions there are a number of juicy MK1's with silly low miles available, don't go less than grade 3.5 if you want a stunner, rust won't be a problem with a jap spec. Have you thought about a Supercharger as an opion if you do go down the import route.

35 miles! That is just amazing isn't it.
Well a nice import with Aircon and Turbo would be perfect.
Not in a rush as I'll only regret it if I buy a turkey.

Turbo would be perfect.
you'll be searching a while for one of those as they don't make 'em turbo! ;)
that was the mr2 mk2 later model.
the mk1 came supercharged if that helps (import only), or with an engine swap to a mk2 turbo - but it sounds like you are looking for a concourse car.....
I'd look for anything under 60k to be realistic, as the mileage dosen't matter much

Sorry to hijack the thread. AW11 - any recommendations on some good Japanese auction sites, particularly for older cars.
Thanks,

I have had a red MR2 Mrk1 for a year now, bought from a family that had owned it from new. Its totally original with about 85kish on the clock, It was owned by a women, then her elderly father, then his other daughter. All the paperwork and service history is exceptionally detailed, except some missing from the elderly fathers ownership. When I bought it a year ago, it even had the original tape player in it.
I've recently made this short promo for Practical classics magazine on the car;
http://www.vimeo.com/7472634
Its recently been fully serviced, new roof rubbers, new front pads and Cam belt done.
The car is totally original as said and completely reliable, the only fault is a rusty rear wheel arch that I am going to deal with this year. I would consider selling the car for the right price if you are interested. Please email me at if your interested tony01jones@hotmail.com.
