I am hoping that you will be able to bring to the attention of enthusiasts and members of the MR2 MK1 Owners Club, that I wish to sell my 1985 (C reg) red MK1 which I have used and taken the last $ years to restore. It has been off the road and in a dry garage for this period and was a joint project with my 16 year old son at present it is eight tenths to completion with a few items needing to be done for the MOT.
I would like to sell it to someone who would finish the project and then use it ( a respray would not be essential but would be the icing on the cake). I will not be offering it on ebay or auto trader because only a true enthusiast would appreciate the quality of the vehicle and the work that has been done.
Work done so far
· Engine rebuild (2 into 1) new bearings, seals and rings
· New clutch (3 piece)
· Gearbox rebuild (2 into 1) by Exeter Transmissions
· Starter Motor Pro Reconditioned
· New Battery, Windscreen and Radiator
· Alternator, petrol pump, heater pipes and front shocks replaced
· Bodywork. Areas which were rusty or holed were replaced with new steel welded in. Derusted (Jenolite) primed redoxide and sprayed to final colour. Box sections, doors and cavities were wax oiled.
At an MOT test the following were identified for retest and included other work to prepare the car for the road.
· Welding of small holes in floor pan beneath seats repair rear end of sills and leading edge of rear wheelaarches.
· Fill and spray other small areas on wings and bonnet.
· Reinstall Bumper bar, rubber cover, engine covers decals, side repeaters, front wings
· Possibly replace rear dampers, brake pads and discs rear brakes back plate.
· Run in the new engine, check timing, change running in oil to standard.
To conclude I have a full HPI paperwork Haynes Handbook Owners tool-kit full size spare wheel, 5 good tyres spare and engine parts. The above is accurate to my knowledge the mileage on the clock is 116,000miles everything works, I have spent £1500-00 on spare parts and materials but would be interested in offers nearer £1000. Prospective buyers would need to see, teat drive the car and I would be happy to answer any questions. All reasonable offers will be considered
