I thought i'd start a thread of useful links for those basic questions that get asked for starting trackdays. You can pm me with useful links that i have not covered. I have no affiliation to any of the websites listed, so buyer beware - make your own mind up on these links.
Read up first here:
I found this book really useful for trackday newbies. It goes thru prepping your car (checking oil, tyre presures etc) to how to drive the basics (racing line, flags, etiquette etc)
http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/1899 ... d_i=468294 (http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/1899870598/ref=s9_simh_gw_p14_i1?pf_rd_m=A3P5ROKL5A1OLE&pf_rd_s=center-2&pf_rd_r=0KGGX814WGKAD3A47CQF&pf_rd_t=101&pf_rd_p=467128533&pf_rd_i=468294)
Tow eyes:
Tow eyes are compulsary for most trackdays. Unless you want to pull the front bumper off your car using the standard tow eyelet (as they are susceptible to rust), then its a good idea to use a tow eye fitted to the MK1 chassis. these i've listed fit straight to the holes already in the front chassis rail, so easy to fit, and you can have them sticking out as far as you wish. easy to bolt on/off or keep on all the time.

Fitting A Harness:
You need to use spreader plates in the firewall, and eye bolts if you want to use a removable clip-in harness and still keep you seatbelt in situ too:

FIA & MSA Approved Rollcages
If you are going for an all-out track car or race car, then you will need to consider a roll cage:
