Hey guys.
Just bought / worked for my grandfathers 1988 white Mr2 so I decided to join a group of people who could help me with anything about the car.

Just some stuff about me: I am fifteen years old and i live in Keller Texas, I will be getting my drivers license in august and I'm very excited about this car.

The car:
Its a white 1988 bone stock standard mr2 that has 23,000 miles !!!! my grandfather has had it for years but never used it... he primarily used his 89 red T-Bar supercharged.
Mine has most of the stock upgrades... radio, sport body etc...
eight years ago my grandparents garage door opener caught fire and plastic melted onto the passenger side of the car and he hasnt used it since... so far we have gotten to a point where we have to replace the fuel pump so thats going to be a big job :( but ill keep u guys updated on our progress.
For the people who want pictures here they are.

Hi there

wow you are lucky to have a cool grandfather who has great taste in cars :+:

you get to drive younger than in the UK (17yrs)

It looks like you will have the car in good shape in no time at all. Just be careful with a rear wheel drive car, as you may start learning in front wheel drive which is so much more forgiving and easier.....

A good clean and polish and your new car will look great.
Engine bay will come up a treat in no time.
Keep it original as you cant really beat a time warp car and is worth a tidy sum especially with such a low mileage.

Take care.

I agree. Once you're up and about with it take it to a car park at night when it's raining an no one's about -practice driving it around in tight circles until the back breaks away so you can get a feel for the level of grip you have before the rear end let's go. Much better to loose it in a car park than on the road ;) The first one I had had tyres which were rubbish in the wet and the first time driving it in the pouring rain I lost the back end coming out of a T junction in traffic - scared the krap out of me!

So learn the tell tale signs that the rear is losing grip and how to respond to correct it.

Apart from that, looks like you've got a good one there. It would probably fetch £3000+ here in the UK ($5000USD+)

Very jealous ;) - Enjoy!

What a fabulous first car. The work you are doing will make the car even more special.

Enjoy :+:

Wow!

I would have given my eye teeth to have such a superb ride as my first car, rather than a rust-eaten 1980 1.0l mini!

looks like a totally mint interior as well, which is getting very rare these days.

Good luck with it...

Such a good post and then fell down at this last quote. What a shame to have got this wrong. Dark blue is the best colour, not white.

You're both wrong. The best colour is red. Or pink. :problem:

Hi,
Late to the thread as usual.
Love the wheels. Look like BBS?

What is the cable on top of the T-VIS? Never seen one like that before.

The other thing I love is that Spoiler brake light. GIMME GIMME!!!!!
Well done on the best first car ever.

My mistake. Studied the picture more carefully and saw that it's pipe.
So, what is the extra cable for on the throttle quadrant?

i concur with the last assessment

also the cable on the TVIS is part of the Cruise control. i am jealous as this car does have lots of OEM original extras: cruise control, AC, 3rd brake light, 'bbs' style rims, spare wheel cover and i'm sure there is more i haven't noticed :+:
