They are both Wet-lay Carbon Fiber with GRP reinforcement coated in a high polish gel coat.
They both come with standard attachment points including latch loop and bolt holes, so are a direct swap for standard with NO modification. Bolt off bolt on - simples.
The bonnet weighs approx 9.5kg saving about 5kg over standard.
The engine lid weighs approx 4kg saving about 3kg over standard.
I'm just posting up here as my friend hasn't got time to pursue this product line as he has limited resources, but i'm determined to offer these out for sale to people as everyone says they are going to do carbon stuff for the mk1, but no one ever actually does. So this will be done entirely in my spare time if people are interested. My friend is about to put an order in with his supplier, so now would be a good time if anyone fancies one.
Prices are currently at £395 for the bonnet and £265 for the engine lid.
There is a possibility of a group buy, but i just want to know if there are actually any interested people out there!

Yes, interested(esp. in engine lid)...
GB prices need to be known though, as I'm sure there are others like me, and those prices are a little more than I'd prefer to pay, atm...

Can I just emphasise that I am not a trader, my friend runs a parts business and while helping out there one day I saw these on his stock list.
He has said that the market for these is too small for him to pursue with limited resources. Hence I am offering them up in my spare time.
As for price, I know us mk1 owners don't want to fork out on a 20 year old car, but compare how much these cost for other cars and you'll see the prices are actually very good.
Again I fear this is one of the reasons that no parts are developed for the mk1 as people just don't want to pay too much.

Bonnet IS a good price, yes... :+: :+:
Engine lid seems a little steep though(for what it is), is all, IMO...hope your friend isn't offended!! :shifty:

I dunno - it's not necessarily about the size, but the engine lid is a fairly complex structure (with the vents and trays underneath etc) so I think it's fair.
I'd actually be interested in an engine lid only (though I may want to paint it :shifty: ), but won't be able to afford it for at least a couple of months, so am in no rush!

DING!
My friend definately is not offended, his bread and butter is skyline and supra parts so it's difficult for him to pursue a new product line with no established market when he has limited time/space/money.
Thats why i thought i'd offer them up here. If there is no serious interest, then i'm quite happy to have the samples fitted to my car and leave it at that.
I just know how hard it was for me to get carbon stuff for the mk1 when I was looking for it originally.

Fair points everyone... :+:
I'd just envisioned an engine lid/boot lid costing more than a bonnet, which isn't usually the case...
Still interested, by all means, would like to know the group buy price...

Chris there are plenty parts inc Carbon in Japan but TBH twice the price of this stuff so your mates is way cheaper than getting it from Japan
Good luck and well done for trying :+:

Well, I am interested in the engine lid, but I have a Supercharger, so I would need a similar design to the SC engine lid. I would also be interested in a boot lid and a boot repro spoiler. Since the Mk.1 really doesn't need any weight taking out of the front of it, I'm not fussed about the Frunk lid. I would also like some carbon T-bar glass replacements so I can buy some T-bar tops and replace the glass with the carbon.

I'm definately interested in the bonnet and maybe the engine lid, the only problem is money. It may take me a month or so to come up with it.
Do you know if your mate can make the headlight covers in carbon?

Well I have bad news folks.
I spoke to my friend over the weekend about just ordering some up anyway to get them in this country and it seems his supplier has won a lucrative business contract making some obscure parts in carbon so will no longer be able to supply anything as they have stopped making bespoke/single run items.
Not just bad news here, but my friend has lost a major supplier for his business so I hope he can source his bits elsewhere.
I've told him to watch out for aw11 parts on any of his suppliers other stocklists, so hopefully something else will crop up :+:
