Hi All from Essex / Sussex

Hi All,

I thought it was about time i joined your excellent Forum. I have owned MR2s since 1990, and been a member of the MR2DC since 1991.

My first and still my favourite was my Mk1 Light Blue Mica T-Bar G686 WPV i often wonder what happened to that car, it was my sole car and i drove approx 70k in her in 6 years not a single problem :angel: A weeks holiday to Denmark was a definite highlight.

I then p/x her in 1996 for a Zircon Blue Mk2 that i had for a further 5 years, it was featured in Jap Performance Car Mag edition 2 in 1999 with MK1 MR2 Club Chairman's Stuart Kynoch's Mk1.

I have had a further 2 Mr2 since then a Black 2000(V) Mk2 and currently a White 1995(M) but i now really want a Mk1 again so the search is on. :+:

What is your criteria as there are a few up for sale at varying degrees of condition and varying money?

Colour?
T-Bar/sunroof/tin top (rarer)
Condition?

I am sure there is one out there for you.

Why Essex and Sussex? They are not next to each other on my atlas.

I work in Sussex, but still have my house in Essex :+:

T-bar would be good, in good / v good condition

Light Blue Mica again or possible Dark Blue Mica, red would be ok too, only one i' m not keen on is white. Not because it doesn't look good, i just wouldn't get the same satisfaction out of polishing / waxing etc (and my current Mk2 is white). I actually have one in mind that i am hoping to see tomorrow in Enfield. ;)

Yours is a great colour by the way.#

Hi Rob,
Welcome to the club. I have just checked on the DVLA site and you will pleased to know that your old car G686WPV is still running. Their records show that the tax is due 1/7/11. (they call it liability). As a previous owner of the car you can find out where the car is now, but it will cost £5.
Hope you find the right car.

The colour on my new car is Dark Red Mica and I know of one other car in the country in this colour which will be for sale soon but is not in fabulous condition (the price will be lower because of it). I have to say the paintwork on my car is stunning (although the underneath not so good and currently having it all redone)

My old one was for sale the other day, dark blue mica t-Bar but not sure if has sold yet.

I used to have a white one years ago and now am not so keen as more difficult to get a really good shine on it and also harder to keep clean. However I will admit that a good white one can look stunning.

Light mica blue (often called Helios blue) was always my second choice after the dark mica blue. Until I got my current car that is.

i googled g686 wpv and it seems rob66 from imoc owned your car at some point if you look at his signature in one of his posts. he might still have it.. ? :)

I am in gidea park superwhite. There used to loads of us in essex in the drivers club especially around chelmsford and brentwood.

Hey Rob so glad you've signed up on this Forum. (Rob and I know each other from Drivers Club and had identical white MK2's over there).

I know your standards are very high. I haven't heard recently of a really exceptional Mark 1. There's an exceptional SC for sale (or was the other day) on IMOC but it's at Nottingham and is white/silver?

Perhaps see you this weekend down at Eastbourne. My car is in for repair right now but might get back Friday?
